On May 12, Ukraine reported that over 200 Russian drones attacked shortly after a U.S.-mediated ceasefire from May 9–11 expired, killing at least one civilian and striking energy, residential, and educational infrastructure; Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the drones.
Ukraine’s air force said that since 6 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Monday, Russia had launched 216 drones, of which 192 were downed or neutralised. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on X that Russia itself chose to end the partial silence that had lasted for several days.
Russia launched a new wave of drone attacks on Ukraine just hours after a temporary ceasefire expired, Ukrainian authorities said early on Tuesday. Ukraine's Air Force reported overnight drone attacks on the capital Kiev as well as the cities of Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kherson.
