Rex Heuermann, a 62-year-old Long Island architect, is expected to plead guilty to murdering seven women in connection with the long-unsolved Gilgo Beach killings, a case that has haunted investigators and captivated the public since human remains were discovered in 2010 along Long Island’s South Shore. A guilty plea would result in a life sentence for Heuermann.
Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is expected to plead guilty on Wednesday in the death of an eighth woman, according to multiple sources. Karen Vergata was a 34-year-old from Manhattan who disappeared in 1996 and was believed to be working as an escort.
Heuermann’s attorney and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Charles Watson with the latest for News 4.
