Malian Defense Minister Gen. Sadio Camara was killed during coordinated attacks by separatist rebels and jihadi fighters in the capital and other cities, officials announced a day after the attacks.
Mali’s defence minister was killed in an attack on his residence, the government said on Sunday, a high-profile fatality during coordinated assaults staged the previous day by insurgents including the West African affiliate of al-Qaida.
Mali’s Defence Minister, General Sadio Camara has been killed in coordinated attacks on military sites nationwide, a government spokesperson has confirmed.
Militants linked to Al Qaeda launched one of Mali’s largest attacks in years, with coordinated strikes around Bamako and key northern hubs. Defence Minister Sadio Camara is feared dead after an explosion at his home amid widespread assaults and ongoing clashes near the capital.
