Following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has been appointed as the jurist member of Iran's three-member leadership council, tasked with temporarily fulfilling the duties of the supreme leader until a successor is elected.

Alireza Arafi, a member of Iran's interim leadership council, had his X (formerly Twitter) account suspended after posting a message declaring he was 'taking charge' of Iranian politics and vowing to avenge the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Iran has established an interim leadership council comprising President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi to manage state affairs during the transition period.

Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has been appointed as the jurist member of Iran's temporary Leadership Council, the body tasked with assuming the supreme leader's duties following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28.
