Belgium plans to nationalise nuclear power plants

Prime Minister Bart De Wever said the move would see "less dependence on fossil fuel imports and more control over our own supply".

The Belgian State, ENGIE S.A., and Electrabel NV/SA have signed a Letter of Intent setting out the framework for exclusive negotiations regarding the potential acquisition by the Belgian State of ENGIE's and Electrabel's nuclear activities, encompassing the full scope of the nuclear fleet of seven reactors and associated assets and liabilities.

Belgium's government is negotiating with French energy giant Engie to acquire all seven nuclear reactors, aiming to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and gain greater control over its energy supplies.
