Quadruple amputee cornhole player fatally shoots man, Maryland authorities say
Associated Pressvia ai

Dayton James Webber, a 27-year-old professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, has been charged in Maryland with the fatal shooting of Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27. Webber, previously featured by ESPN and the Today show for his inspiring story of overcoming medical adversity and becoming a professional athlete without arms or legs, is now facing first- and second-degree murder charges. Authorities report the incident began with an argument while Webber was driving a car with Wells and two other passengers. After the alleged shooting in La Plata, Maryland, Webber attempted to enlist help from the backseat passengers to remove the victim’s body but fled when they refused and alerted police. The victim's body was later discovered in a residential yard in Charlotte Hall, 10 miles away. Webber was arrested in Virginia and is awaiting extradition. The American Cornhole League acknowledged the allegations but declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation.
