La presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, anunció que su gobierno llevará ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos los casos de ciudadanos mexicanos fallecidos bajo custodia del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) de EE. UU. Desde enero de 2025, se han registrado 14 muertes, incluyendo la más reciente de José Guadalupe Ramos-Solano, de 27 años, ocurrida en el centro de detención de Adelanto, California.
El Gobierno de México ha calificado como "inaceptable" la muerte de 13 ciudadanos mexicanos que estaban bajo custodia del ICE en Estados Unidos. El canciller Juan Ramón de la Fuente y la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum han exigido una investigación exhaustiva sobre estos fallecimientos, incluyendo el caso de un joven de 19 años en Florida, cuya posible causa de muerte fue reportada como suicidio sin pruebas claras.
O número de imigrantes mortos em centros de detenção do ICE (Serviço de Imigração e Alfândega) nos Estados Unidos em 2026 subiu para 14 após a morte de um mexicano na região de Los Angeles. O ICE informou que José Guadalupe Ramos morreu após ser encontrado inconsciente em uma unidade de detenção em Adelanto, na Califórnia.
