Amazon has launched its Prime Air drone delivery service in Darlington, County Durham, marking the first drone deliveries in the UK. The service delivers packages weighing less than 5lb within a 7.5-mile radius in under two hours.
Amazon has become the first company in the UK to offer drone delivery, delivering its first UK packages by drone in Darlington, County Durham. Residents within 7.5 miles of Amazon’s Darlington fulfilment centre can now receive packages weighing less than 2.2kg by drone.
Amazon Prime Air has commenced its first UK drone deliveries in Darlington, County Durham, operating under a Civil Aviation Authority trial until the end of 2026. The service is limited to 10 flights per hour and 100 deliveries per day on weekdays, with packages up to 5 pounds within a 7.5-mile radius.
